Freedom

As a non-citizen living in this country, I think I have pretty good life. I get a monthly stipend, housing assistance, medical payment assistance, public housing, and various government grants to help fund my education. I also have the right to choose and follow any religion, lifestyle, and political affiliation that I want to. Within sensible reason, I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, for whatever reason I want! Heck, I can even listen to tom Jones, if I want to! I thank GOD for these freedoms because there are countries where I would not have these freedoms and would severely punished and/or killed if I ever tried to exercise them! Imagine being beaten to death because of the religion that you follow! Imagine not being allowed to draw water from a well without someone's permission because of the fact that you are poor! We need to be thankful of the freedoms we have and be mindful of the fact that we could lose them at any time! We need to get involved in our society if we want to change it! If there's a law you don't agree with or a presidential candidate that you don't like, get out and vote! If you want to keep the right to free speech, speak and make yourself heard! You can say what you want about America, just be sure to thank God for the freedom to say it!

What is your hope?

if I were to ask you what your hope is, what would your answer be? Please take into mind that when I say the word hope, I do not mean hope as in " I hope that I win the lottery." with hope I mean, what makes you want to be alive!? As a person living with a disability, I have the hope that, in the future, when heaven comes to earth, I will be made mentally, physically, & spiritually whole! This is the hope that I need for my life. Now comes the question of "how does your hope influence your life?" if you want a better existence in the future, what are you doing to change your life now? As of now, my body is in ill health. I am getting better, but to be completely healthy, I need to work on things like losing weight, taking my medications daily, going to my doctor & physical therapist appointments, etc, etc. The point to this is that if we want change in our lives, if we want to achieve the goals that we desire in our lives, we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work! It may involve pain, blood, sweat, & tears but, when the dust clears and all is said and done, it will be worth it all! As I once heard someone say, a tire doesn't roll unless it gets pushed!

"finding neverland" review

today I watched a movie called "finding neverland." in this movie, Johnny depp plays the role of the writer j.m.barrie, the creator of the "peter pan" myth. Kate winslett co-stars as Sylvia L. Davies, a woman that Mr. barrie befriends who is raising five young, hyperactive, grieving boys while dealing with a pushy, over protective mother. Ms. Davies is also suffering from a developing illness while grieving the loss of her departed husband. depp yet again delivers an outstanding performance, even going to such lengths as to develop a Scottish accent. m(r)s. winslett also gives a pleasant performance. Both performers bring a certain realness to this movie which is rare to find in most true stories. The special effects used in this movie are pleasingly effective. They are used just enough to let the viewer see into the imagination of Mr. barrie, but not enough to turn this wonderful true story into a cheesy fantasy. I would recommend this movie to any Johnny depp fan or to anybody who would like to see what it takes to be a creative writer!

Friendships.

Just recently, I read a poem on a billboard sign. The poem reads "flowers, like friends, are needed both for sorrow and for joy!" I like this poem, but I would reverse flowers for friends. Friendships are a rare and precious commodity that must be preserved and protected. Recently, I have begun a sort of quest to drastically improve my health. My goal is lower my weight from 568 pounds to 250 pounds. I could not have done (or continue to do) this without the support of the wonderful friends that I have in my life. But just as I need my friends in the hard times of this challenge, I need them in the joyous times equally. I need their praises for the successful steps that I have achieved. God did not create me (OR YOU!) to live in this world alone! We are compelled by lord iahovah (GOD) to challenge, strengthen, support, love, and care for one another! By his grace, may we do, and continue to do, this until the day of his return! www.vanguardchurch.com
